Ask about the Bioinformatics Program
By prof. Anders Krogh
I started the Bioinformatics Program in 2002 and has been coordinating it since. I teach in the program and has supervised many student projects. You are welcome to ask me questions at krogh(at)binf.ku.dk. Questions and answers relevant for a wider audience will be shown below
This is a rather old picture of me (2003 , I think) - couldn't find any other. (I'm a bit prettier now.)
What is the deadline for application?
For Danish students the deadline is April 1st. For international students, it is March 15th. In the past, we have not filled up, so you have a good chance to be accepted even after the deadline.
What jobs can I get as a bioinformatician?
I do not have statistics on this, but this is what I know: A very large fraction of our students do a Ph.D. afterwards, both in Denmark and abroad. Of the rest, several work at hospitals, where there is a great need for people who can do data analysis (e.g. expression arrays and sequencing data). Several work in private companies as well.
What is the chance of getting a stipend?
Students from outside EU and associated states have to pay tuition at Univ. of Copenhagen. There are some government stipends that cover tuition for the best students. Learn mere here.
