Seminar: Manfred Sippl on protein folding

Sippl is professor of Bioinformatics at the Center of Applied Molecular Engineering (CAME) at University of Salzburg in Austria. He will hold a presentation on protein fold space and structure prediction.

Where: Room 1.2.03 at the Biocenter
When: Thursday, May 14., 14-15h

Abstract:
You want to know how proteins fold and how they function?
Take a walk in protein fold space. More often than not
you will get a clue if not the answer. If you know what you
are looking for and how to find it. In fact, there is more
information than we can presently handle. Surprises included.
Charting fold space, chasing its creatures, and trying to predict
their structures has occupied us for decades. There is no end in sight.
I try to summarize where we are.
